MakerSpace Open Lab

Welcome Makers! Join us for Open Lab to enjoy a variety of hands-on STEM activities. Participants can build, code, create, question, and more through engaging activities with Fermilab connections. This program is drop-in and all are welcome at any time during our Open Lab hours.

Program activities

  • Participants get hands-on with science and engineering themed activities which change each day.
  • Participants experience the engineering design process through make and take activities.
  • Participants will learn about Fermilab science and engineering.
  • Makers build a city out of cardboard, paper, and tape. 

Program details

  • All ages are welcome, and activities are designed for elementary age students.
  • Guardians are expected to stay for the duration of the program and to assist their students in the activities.
  • This program is first come first served, as supplies last. There is no registration required.
  • All classes take place at Lederman Science Center. The center is open to the public, and program participants are welcome to enjoy the exhibits before or after their program during the center’s open hours. 
  • All participants 18 years of age and older will be required to show a REAL ID-compliant document, such as a passport or enhanced driver’s license, before they are granted access to the site. Learn more about site access guidelines here.

The Lederman Science Center will be closed from 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29th. We will resume our normal hours at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
