The Fermilab Center QuarkNet workshop is an annual opportunity for high school physics teachers from the Chicago area and beyond to explore a current topic in particle physics. This in-person workshop on the Fermilab site will provide you with activities and ideas to get you refreshed and excited about teaching physics in the upcoming school year. Earn PDHs and graduate credit hours through the University of St. Francis.
About the teacher workshop
The Fermilab QuarkNet center workshop engages you in particle physics activities and data explorations that you can share with your students. QuarkNet leaders will share activities from our Data Activities Portfolio and facilitate discussions on classroom use. Talks from Fermilab physicists and tours of the Fermilab site will provide context and give you opportunities to expand your knowledge of the cutting edge of physics research.
“I learned so much during this workshop. I really enjoyed hearing the student and scientist presentations. The opportunities to collaborate with the cohort were insightful. My brain was happily stretched- I wish the workshop were longer!”
“This was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about particle physics, the modern research in the area of neutrinos as well as general knowledge about experimental methods in particle physics. This includes resources for teaching concepts in particle physics and hands-on practice in learning particle physics.”
“The tours and presenters were incredible. I have been to QuarkNet before, but this was by far the very best session ever. I have already developed some unique ideas for using detector data in my AP Physics 2 class. And I have ideas on other things I can use from this course in my AP Physics 1 class.”
